“Effort” & Giveaway!

We all have the list of things we’d like to do or try in our lives.  And for whatever reasons (fear of failure, lack of finances, etc), we don’t put the effort or energy into learning how to do it.    Then when we finally do, we find great reward in it.

One of the challenges last weekend at Big Picture Classes was to use the concept “reflection” with either a reflection photograph or an element showing reflection.  I had recently taken this photo for my blog of a  shirt I sewed for myself and knew it was exactly what I wanted to do for the page.  I reflected on the regret I have for not taking the time, energy and investment to learn to sew.  A whole new world has opened up to me since I learned.

Supplies:  Advantus Cosmo Cricket (patterned paper, stickers), American Crafts Thickers, decorative stitching on Brother machine.

Design Tip:  Rule of Thirds  I applied the rule of thirds in keeping my vertical paper strips on the left third of the page, leaving white space on the right 2/3s.

Price Per Page:  $ (Under $2)  This page was created completely out of scraps, but the relative “cost” of the page was still less than $2.

For a little fun, since I didn’t plan well for the blog hop last weekend being on National Scrapbook Day, I thought I’d do a little giveaway today.  And it revolves around my delight from my trip to Walmart yesterday (okay, that wasn’t so delighful, but I did find one thing that made me very happy in the baking aisle).  Ghirardelli mini chocolate chips!  Recently I’ve eliminated corn from my diet (and it’s made a HUGE difference in how I’ve felt).  But a sacrifice of that is chocolate, you see there are very few chocolate chips that don’t have corn syrup in them.  Ghirardelli is one that is only sugar (I’ve already been a fan of Ghirardelli, so I was happy when I realized this).  Well, they now sell mini chips at Walmart!  It made me so happy (although I don’t know why because I really don’t use that many mini chips).  It’s the silly things in life that bring us delight.

So, to celebrate my fun find (because aren’t most things just cute in mini form?), I’m going to do a little prize.  And test to see how well my blog readers know me……

All you have to do is comment to guess what the first thing I did with them was……  (I will pull a random winner from the correct guesses.  Ends Thursday).  Come on, guess, I just know you want these super cute Amy Tangerine embellishments!!

Um, I am thinking you ate them straight out of the bag.

Oh, and I love the layout! That was one challenge that I chose not to do. I love the paper you used. Perfect.

Oh you definitely ate them straight out of the bag. If you can't eat chocolate, you might have eaten them in the check out line lol

Glad the diet change is improving your life :)

Yes, I bet you totally ate them too -- I would have! YUM! I love that shirt and the LO compliments it well. I want to learn to sew better. I got a nice Singer sewing machine for Christmas and do not know how to use it hardly at all!

I'm going with eating them straight out of the bag as well! Love the layout!

I love this page Amanda, and what a great story on this one to go along with the reflection challenge! That little strip of paper with the scissors is so, so perfect on this page!! :)

I know I probably would've opened up that bag and eaten some of that chocolate as soon as I got in the car...so I'm gonna say that's what you did too!! :)

LOL! I think you did what I'd do, eat them straight out of the bag!

You must have put them in a mason jar and then eaten them out of the jar
:-)

Oh -- and that's my fave choc too, it's a CA thing.

Aww that's what I was going to guess-- put them in a mason jar! LOL Really cute LO and I love mini chocolate chips-- I'll be on the look out for them! :)

Great LO, love the colors! You opened them up to "taste test them" and then baked some yummy cookies!

You put them in a mason jar, of course, lol.

I think you ate some and stored the rest in a jar.

Well, seeing as though you posted about your love of mason jars a couple of weeks ago and even said you put chocolate chips in them...I'm guessing that you ate a couple then poured them into a mason jar! Or if you were able to show restraint (I wouldn't) maybe you poured them into a mason jar first and then ate a few! Hmmm...

Put them into a mason jar! Of course! (Then, since they are so LOUD, you had to go back and check on them.)
LOL!

Well, this isn't going to sound original, but I immediately thought you would put them into a cute mason jar too! They are such a fun size to look at!

You and your love of chocolate and mason jars makes this an easy guess. Tear open the bag, maybe snitch one or two and dump them into one of those mason jars. Stand back, admire and then dive into them again.

You had to have added them to your pantry with the perfect size of mason jar. :)

Why ate some of them of course! LOL.

Clearly you would eat them!
