Get out your waders…..
I’m about to flood my blog. I’m going to post a bunch of pages over the next couple days. Wont’ say much, just post them. I was looking back through what I’ve done recently and noticed things I could have done to “improve” a lot of them already. And this is just after 5 of my '”Study the Masters” pages! Wow!
Well, as I’ve said in the past, my blog is my digital back up of all my work. So you get to see it whether it’s stellar or not (except the really bad ones, I spare you those). That being said, I’m going to pour a bunch of LOs in so I can start fresh again!

Study the Masters #5
Today I’m sharing another page of my “Study the Masters” self challenge. This page I had to modify a little bit. I wanted to do more journaling than the original page allowed, so I did some tweeking as you’ll see.

“Study the Masters”
Remember last week when I shared my new challenge? I’m going to copy 50 pages by published-publishable scrappy personalities in an effort to take my skills to the next level. Well, today, I’m going to share 2 with you. The first one was originally by Linda Barker in CK Feb 2011 (page 72)
My second one is originally by Jody Wenke, CK Feb 2011 (page 51).
Thanks for stopping by. I’ll have lots more of these to come, mixed with the other pages I’ve completed on my own. (I will mark my “Study the Masters” posts as such).

Yes, really, I did…..
make one more card! (Well, actually I designed one more card and made 8 of them for the various birthdays and such I have this month – I’m all about mass production baby!)
Again, I used an el-cheapo kit I bought, I thought I really snazzed it up pretty good. And I still haven’t poked myself with the needle for those buttons – no blood yet :)

Thinking of You
I’ve been wanting to send my Grandma a little something lately. I think of her often, but I’ll admit, I’m not always so good at sending her letters or anything. She’s living in an Assisted Living community, and so really, what does one need then? Well, I know one thing, she’s always sending out cards to people.
And I make (or at least pretend to) cards. And what says “I’m thinking of you” more than sending a card??? How about a set of blank cards???
I made up these cute little cards from an elcheapo paper set I picked up on clearance sale for a buck I think. Man, talk about make a good modification of a $1 purchase if I do say so myself!!
And of course, I did use one to write a message for her. But the rest were tied up in a cute little bundle and sent off! Enjoy Grandma.

Thanks CK & the Dream Team
A little over a week ago, Creating Keepsakes hosted an event on Club CK where you could post a page and the Dream Team would critique and help you improve it. I had this page that I just couldn’t get right. I was happy to just walk away and leave it as it was (hiding it in my albums and not posting it here).
But, I thought it would be a great chance to have some help. I was a little nervous, because I’ll admit, I have very tender skin…..BUT, the advice I was given was great. I’m very happy with the end result (even though I couldn’t do everything suggested because I couldn’t completely disassemble the page w/o ruining it).

Study the Masters page 2
Here is the second page I’ve completed in my “Study the Masters” self-challenge. I did this page pretty near identical. I was drawn to it because I had the same papers and wondered what to do with them after I bought them.
Original by Nicole Harper in the January 2011 issue of Creating Keepsakes, pg 34 © Creating Keepsakes
The only thing I changed really was that I put the vertical picture on the bottom, used two small pictures instead of one horizontal picture and moved the title & journaling down.

A New Challenge for Myself
For the last few months I’ve been feeling “stuck.” I’ve been wanting to take my scrapbook pages to the next level, but not sure what or how.
Yesterday I decided to challenge myself to “study the masters” as any good art student would do. I have challenged myself to lift (copy) 50, yes FIFTY, pages or layouts. So the next 50 items I will be doing will be lifts.
Last night, I got off to a great start. I completed two pages. I will share them today and tomorrow. The first page is from the cover of Creating Keepsakes January 2011 issue.
I added a fourth picture and changed the snowflakes to butterflies to match the “tea party” theme. I gathered the ribbon on my sewing machine. A technique I don’t do often, but really worth the time.
The journaling says: “Last week when Dad & Cody went to town, you were very upset. So we pulled out the tea set and had a “tea party” with cocoa.”
Supplies: My Minds Eye (paper), October Afternoon (journaling spot), American Crafts (alpha), misc ribbon, WRMK (cardstock), Martha Stewart & Fiskars (punches), SCAL butterfly

Stuff A Coming....
First of all, a while back I mentioned a Mystery in the Making. Yes, I do have it planned, but I think I'm going to do it mid February. I will provide more information as soon as I can get it planned. (If you don't know what I'm talking about, here is the Mystery in the Making we did last year).
Also....a blog hop coming again mid-Feb. It will be a Valentines Day heme. Date will come shortly.
So now that I've fully promised you lots and nothing at the same time [;)] (because I have no firm dates...) come back to find out more info!!!
And now, because a blog post is just not complete without a picture, here is a page I recently did. Funny story – both Aly & her aunt have beautiful curls…..but there is no blood relation! A funny little twist in the family!
The colors are registering a little more off than on the page, but oh well……

You have my heart
This is a lift from a page by the very talented Elizabeth Kartchner. I love the page the moment I saw it and lifted it right away. I don’t often lift, so it must have really struck me!
These are older pictures of my silly girl & I.
