We have this wonderful little restaurant in our town. We’ve never eaten there as a family. I’ve had dessert once, and a salad once, both times were “with the girls.” And let me tell you, “YUM!”
But you see, my family has always been intimidated by the Breadline Cafe . They serve real food, made mostly from scratch. Good food. Great Quality. Super Yummy. But, intimidating. You see it’s very eclectic and what seems a bit, upscale? Eclectic you say? But doesn’t everyone have a bike hanging from their ceiling??

Well, today, we decided to brave it. And we were ALL so glad we did! It was the Saturday morning Buffet, of which we didn’t realize was a regular event. Custom made omelets to your taste. They brought a bowl of yummy potatoes directly to the table, as well as some fruit with an exotic dip. Still can’t identify what it was, sweet & savory at the same time.
I loved the omelets. LOTS of veggies to choose from. And I believe I heard all the meats were from local supplies. Locally grown. Can you say delicious??
Yes, that’s artichoke hearts & Feta Cheese! Oh, be still my heart.
Aly kept saying the whipped cream was so yummy. Better than mine she said. What?? How can whipped cream be better than mine. Yes, I do really whip my whipped cream (don’t worry – I’ve only done it by hand once. My arm hurt so bad, I decided help from the kitchen aid was the way to go for all future whipping). From the carton. Fresh…….but the silly girl was right! I don’t know how they did it (aside from the fact that it was so whipped it was almost butter), but they do make better whipped cream! And better french toast too!
Well, I think I’ve officially made your mouth water. At least I’ve made mine water, and I’m still full from breakfast/lunch!! So if you ever end up in the middle of nowhere little town of Omak, WA, be sure to stop by the Breadline. Your mouth will thank you!
Oh, I guess I should explain the title. I had just come back to the table after getting our omelets from the chefs (gotta love a place in Okanogan county that makes the chefs wear white coats! – not the straight jacket kind…hee…hee…), and I stopped to take a picture of the potatoes. Robert said I should sit down, I said I fully intended to after I took a picture. You see, I learned my lesson from last week at Blueberry Hill about pictures and my camera. Then I looked up from my camera and smiled and said, “I’m just a total nerd.” He responded “to a whole new level….” Yup, that’s me. Nerd. But a happy nerd!

that DOES sound yummy! What a fun place, local places are so much better than chains.
Ooh, Amanda... that looks yummmmmmy! I vote for a visit there when I come stay :-D And, I have to say, I am completely in love with the bike hanging from the ceiling! But then, I'm a bit eclectic myself! (Love the new blog!)
Amanda, the Breadline reminds me a lot of the Calico Cupboards over here. There's one in Mount Vernon, La Conner, and Anacortes. Our absolute favorite place for breakfast and lunch (they don't serve dinner). Everything is made fresh from local ingredients whenever possible. Their artichoke/gorgonzola quiche is to die for. And I love their Skagit Hash! Next time you're over here, I'll buy you lunch at one of the Cupboards!
You're on Laurie!!! I've been to the Calico Cupboard before (although it's been a long time). VERY yummy!!! And yup, you're right, the same kind of real/fresh food.
Adele - I've got it down! YUPPERS!!! I'll make the reservations now ;)
This has become our new fav restaurant. We've never done the breakfast buffet yet, only dinners. Hmmm...maybe I'll get Karl to take me to breakfast Saturday after he has his wallet back! (Thanks again!!)
Sally - maybe I'll just take the wallet and treat myself ;)....hee hee....JK! LOL It's definitely going to be on our "list" from now on! The intimidation factor is gone :)
Ooooh, sounds dee-lish! Thanks for sharing - I love those small town treasures.
