We're trying to learn our phone number (well, Daddy's phone number since we both have cell phones only). Cody doesn't quite get the concept that the numbers have to go in a certain order not 1-2-3-4-5-6etc..... So we made a little "phone" number pad. Punched the blue squares with a punch, stuck them to the brown paper with foam adhesive doubled so it would have some give, and cut the numbers out on the cricut with the Mickey cartridge.
We've been practicing what numbers we would "dial" if we had to call Daddy.

Here's another idea if you have a pre-schooler. Ever hear of snips? Snips are small (1/2" or so) strips of paper that they kids either cut or tear into small squares. It's really good practice to develop the muscles used in writing. Well, we did our own take. Cody made snips out of masking tape and then stuck them to letters I had written on construction paper. He thought it was pretty great!

What great ideas, Amanda!
Hi, Amanda. I "know" you from the CK mb. Saw the great phone number training tool you made for Cody. I used scrap tools and supplies last week for school. I took some of my small basic shape punches and used them to develop a pattern row. Then I had extra ones, backed with xyron adh. for my son to continue the pattern. He loved it. You can make all sorts of patterns depending on their level. We both had fun.
I enjoy your input on the mb. Maybe I'll even dabble in some digi because of you...someday....
