Hill Billy Sledding

We've had this awesomely sweet snow drift in our front "yard" for a couple weeks now. And today, it finally warmed up to 25 degrees or so (tropical heat wave for the temps we've been having!) I bundled the kids up and sent them outside to get out of the house. I thought it would be really fun to jump from the porch into the drift like you do into the pool during the summer.

Well, I talked Cody into it.

And he freaked! Don't know what he thought was supposed to happen, but it didn't go to his plan! After I finally was able to stop laughing and told him I'd jump in myself, he decided it was a worth while plunge! And off we went to the drift.

And here's Aly who doesn't want anything to do with that white stuff. Can you see the disgust on her face. And this is BEFORE I threw her in!

And here's where I threw her in. Okay, she's earned the right for that face and fit now!
She hates the snow. She doesn't like cold, but she hates the snow! Last week, Aly was sitting on my desk looking out the window at the car, yelling "du dey, uh oh, Momma, DU DEY." (translation "dirty, uh oh Momma, dirty!") She was not happy! Today when we came inside, Cody was the first one in and of course got a little bit of snow on the floor. Aly had a total melt down yelling "Oh no, Yody." (She calls Cody, Yo-dy). She was not happy until I cleaned it up, and man was she mad at her brother.
So, we don't have a sled. It was delegated to the horses as a feed trough this summer. So what's a boy supposed to do with out a sled?
Why, just jump and roll of course! It was some major fun "sledding" if I do say so myself. I don't think I've ever had so much fun playing in the snow! And I was soaked through all my layers of clothes. One year, I'll actually get some real snow gear.

King of the Drift!

And this is how it's done! Proper Hill Billy Sledding, that is.

Ah, a victorious day on the snow drifts!

Thanks for visiting us!!

Christmas Joy

How could Santa refuse that face?

This is the closest she'll ever get to tattoos!

(And this is how they got there!)

Yup, someone does eat the cookies and milk at our house! Better not let the kids see this!!!

Cody's note to Santa.
Cody trying out the yo- yo in his stocking! He "thought" he had it! It was pretty cute! It was especially funny watching him "teach" Aly.

Ah, the tree looks much better surrounded by presents and the two cutest kids trying to avoid going to bed!
(Sorry - I didn't take many Christmas pictures. Only 98, Yes, I know, I'm letting the grandparents down. It was so dark in the house I knew I wouldn't have good pictures so I took the time to enjoy the kids instead!)
And on to other stuff:

This picture doesn't have anything to do with Christmas, but I was so loving it! I took it of an antique stained glass door at the Museum in Winthrop.

The family checking out the old stamp mill at the Winthrop Museum. A really cool place if you're into old mining, logging and farm equipment. They had the best collection of mining stuff we've seen in this part of the state.

And finally getting them to hold hands! (These were at the Twilight Christmas parade, I just lost them on my computer and forgot to share).

Just giddy over this one!!!!

Oh, I am so excited over this project I can barely stand it!!!

I made the quilt face, and was pretty excited about how it came out (now I just have to figure out how to finish it!) But I had some extra fabric and thought, "hey, why not try cutting a shape out on my cricut." So I did and it worked SO well!!!!!!

I applied heat n bond to the back of the fabric, put it in my cricut. Using SCAL I cut out the turtle with the font animals from dafont.com (be sure to use a new sharp blade and cut as slow as the settings will allow). Then I heat fused it to the onsie! So stinkin' cute!!!

Sweet Style Construction

Christmas Eve. A Day with Family.

Robert and Cody went over the mountains yesterday (to Seattle). Because of all the chaos and weather here, I had to stay home, and also because our tractor broke down and a guy was coming to fix it. After getting home at 1 a.m. this morning, the kids are both a little grumpy.
But we've already tracked Santa on NORAD and will check back several times before bed (it's a great distraction for grumpy kids!).

But this morning I wanted to be sure we were able to make a gingerbread house. However, because of my lack of planning (and more likely, not wanting to make a huge mess) we used graham crackers for the building. The kids thought it was great. Cody really enjoyed the construction part and Aly really enjoyed the candy part! Every time I tried to put a candy on, she said, "No, Mom", took it off and ate it!!!

Cody's house - he decorated it all by himself (we built it together)
Now for some scrapiness! As part of my plan to share more of my work, here's most of the pages I did last night. I'm having a really hard time doing multiple-page layouts at the moment. Either it was that or the fact that I was worried about Robert & Cody last night (they took my cell phone so I had no way to communicate with them and the roads were HORRIBLE), but I wasn't hitting scrapbook perfection lastnight. I finished 15 pages, but not the best 15 I've ever done! Here they are anyway.

Cody and his cousins (Tyler & Zac) making caramel apples a few months ago.

Family: It's the little blessing that help us to see just how lovely life can be.

"It's A Perfect Day"
"Pretty as a Princess"

"Summer Girl" (I just loved this pink swimsuit Aly wore all summer - then drug around all fall!)

So Silly (2-pages)

"Round & R0und"

Fountain Fun (not so much loving this one - I tried to doodle myself -- oops)

"Summer Fun"

"You are my Sweetie Pie"

"All by Self" (Aly trying to get her pants on by herself)

"Splashing 101" (I tried to use the scallops to mimic waves - didn't work as I had intended!)

And My favorite one of the night - no title or ournaling though.

Thanks for looking! Have a Merry Christmas
